Retirement Wishes

Retirement Wishes and Dreams Deferred

How do you see your retirement years?

Are you putting off your real dreams and life goals for retirement?

Are you prepared to make retirement work for you? And what are your retirement wishes?

Those are some pretty heavy questions. Questions most adults have asked. Questions not many of us have fully answered.

But what almost no one asks is the much more difficult question: am I putting off my real dreamsGet On The FastTrack  and life goals for retirement?

Is Your Retirement Planning Hurting You?

While we all have unique retirement wishes - things we want to do once the kids are out of the house or after we've made our mark in our current profession - way too many of us have postponed or stopped investing in our ability to create value now in order to save more money for retirement.  We buy into the idea that our future has to be bought at the expense of our current ability to live out our Soul Purpose.

At least most of us do. Here's how to tell if you're also being hurt by this myth:

Ask yourself, "Does my anxiety over retirement compel me to downgrade my life today? Or to feel guilty for enjoying my life now? Do my retirement plans feel at the mercy of the markets? Am I working at a job that is ouside my real passions and Soul Purpose simply to help fund my retirement?"

Is retirement planning hurting you?

Big banks and other financial institutions have built an industry preying on retirement anxieties. They make big money selling the public on 'investing' in 401(k)'s, IRA's and mutual funds - essentially advising people to hand them over their money (large portions of their financial freedom, really) for decades at a time.

And if anxiety over "will I have enough saved" isn't enough motivation to get you to hand over your money, these advisors then sell people on the "dream" of retirement. On the notion that retirement is when you'll be allowed to pursue your passions - and that you'd better save even more if you want to really live well in your golden years.

In short, these financial planners are training us to hoard our money and to invest far from home, when we should be doing what they are: fully utilizing our money and accelerating our cash flow while investing close to home.

When you learn to improve your ability to create value for others and accelerate your cash flow, you live more abundantly. You invest in your own Soul Purpose and pursue your dreams now, rather than later.  And when you invest close to home, both your investments and your retirement are no longer at the mercy of the markets.

If you're saving and investing for retirement the traditional way, you may be doing more than just under-utilizing your money and shortchanging your retirement wishes – you could be shortchanging your life today.  And you don't have to.
